Life in the UK Test results and retakes

After a pass, keep the unique reference number for your citizenship or settlement application.

After passing

The Home Office uses your unique reference number to check the result. If you passed before 17 December 2019, you may have a letter with a test reference ID instead. Follow GOV.UK’s instructions if you have lost that older letter.

After an unsuccessful attempt

You can rebook as many times as you need and must pay each time. The official service requires bookings at least three days ahead. Use your study time to work on the chapters you found difficult.

Using your practice results

Our scores stay in this browser. They are not official test results and cannot be used as evidence in an immigration application. The mistakes mode helps you revisit questions you answered incorrectly here.

Quick answer

Is there a limit on retakes?

GOV.UK says you can rebook as many times as you need, paying each time.
